SHUKER ON SITE WITH DIY SOS: THE JOSHUA TREE

The Shuker team has been proud to play a part in the BBC’s DIY SOS: The Big Build latest project – The Joshua Tree. This incredible build brought together trades, suppliers, and volunteers from across the region, and we were delighted to add our skills and support to make it a success.

A Project Like No Other

From the moment we arrived on site, it was clear this was going to be no ordinary job. The DIY SOS team are renowned for creating life-changing spaces, but what struck us most was the energy, passion, and sense of community that filled the site. Everyone was pulling in the same direction, and the atmosphere was nothing short of inspiring.

As we shared on Facebook, this was a build full of challenges. There were “tricky changes” along the way, but every obstacle was met with teamwork, creativity, and determination. The Shuker crew rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in, adapting where needed and making sure the project stayed on track.

Teamwork in Action

One of the highlights was working shoulder-to-shoulder with so many other skilled trades. From builders and electricians to decorators and landscapers, everyone came together with the shared goal of delivering something truly special. The camaraderie was second to none, and it’s fair to say many friendships were forged along the way.

Our videos and posts gave small glimpses into those days on site, from the buzz of activity and team spirit to the final push as everything came together. The sense of achievement at the end was immense, and it was a privilege to be part of it.

More Than Just Construction

At its heart, this project wasn’t just about bricks, mortar, or finishes, it was about people. The Joshua Tree charity provides vital support for families affected by childhood cancer and knowing that our work would contribute to their future was incredibly motivating. Every hour on site felt purposeful, and that’s something we’ll carry with us long after the cameras stop rolling.

A Teaser of What’s to Come

For now, we can only share a taste of the journey. The full transformation will be revealed when the programme airs, and we can’t wait for everyone to see the difference this project will make.
